Ahh, Marquee. We remember stumbling up and down your swanky stairs when we were but a young Barfly. When we were walking by the other night, we noticed something curious - Marquee now has a marquee. The club has been painted grey and there was a sign-board out front that listed upcoming acts. Whaaaa?
The joint isn't going all Webster Hall, but there was just a major renovation and some big (and exciting) changes have come to the space. There are some awesome new LED screens to light up the dance floor, and the multiple rooms have been eliminated, so all of the guests can chill out at the same party, to the same music. They are pre-selling tickets to shows, and you can check out their website for a lineup of upcoming DJs. Bottle service is of course still available.
It's great that they decided to reboot the club in such an epic fashion. It's been a while since we stomped around the steets of West Chelsea, and especially set foot in this club, and now we have a reason to go back and say hi to our young-Barfly self. We'll be sure to pour one out for Bungalow, Coral Room, Suite 16, Guest House, and all the other spots where we hopped around to in those glory days. While all of those have come and gone, it's nice to see that one venue lives on.
