Start of February right - by drinking way too much beer - at the Great Beer Expo, a sudsy event that's taking over the Meadowlands Exposition Center on February 2 (shout out to New Jersey!). The tasting extravaganza features brews from over 20 countries and 50 brewers - well over 100 varieties will be poured during two sessions. We could think of a lot of worse ways to spend a Saturday afternoon (like drinking beer at home, at a bar, or while hiding from your family in the backyard).
Tickets are $40 in advance and $55 at the door (if the hop heads haven't bought the place out) and include tastings, a glass, and invites to the seminars throughout the day. Session one is from 12:30 to 4 PM and session 2 is from 5:30 to 9 PM. NYC dwellers shouldn't be afraid to scope this one out - it's just a short ride from Port Authority to the Secacus Harmon Meadow stop and buses run every 15 minutes. On the return rides, these will be known as the beer mobiles. Get tickets and info here.
