The holidays are when booze brands roll out the special-edition, limited releases – all of these new flavors must have had the elves working double time. Grand Marnier just announced that their special blend this season will be a cherry label, made with natural European Griottes cherries. Blended with the spirit's signature cognac, the cherry edition should be a good sweetening agent for those holiday punches and cocktails. The brand worked with Jonathan Pogash (aka The Cocktail Guru) to come up with a totally easy drink dubbed the Sparkling Cherry and Spice, which you can see below. If you’re planning on drinking your way through the holidays, we’re thinking it sounds perfect.
Sparkling Cherry & Spice
Created by Jonathan Pogash, The Cocktail Guru
2 1/2 oz Grand Marnier Cherry
2 oz Chandon Rosé sparkling wine (chilled)
1/2 tsp freshly grated ginger
1/2 oz fresh lime juice
Muddle the ginger in the bottom of a mixing glass and then add Grand Marnier Cherry, lime juice and ice. Shake well and strain into a chilled flute. Top with chilled Chandon Rosé sparkling wine and stir gently. Garnish with candied ginger on the rim of the flute.
