Drinks International magazine is out with their annual list of the 50 best bars in the world, and NYC did pretty swell overall. Sadly, the Big Apple did not claim the top spot - that went to London's Artesian at the Langham Hotel. But, Jim Meehan's PDT ranked a close second, and was also the best bar in North America. Death and Co is at number six, Employee's Only is at Number 11, Clover Club is down at number 18 and newcomer Experimental Cocktail Club made the list this year at spot number 26.
Now, that last one we disagree with - there are many bars that are way better than that LES mixology den, which is way too focused on the scene in our opinion. Also - the list generally is way too London and NYC centric - surely there are more watering holes that could be represented- we don't see a single joint from Chicago on the list (The Violet Hour, hello!). But the great fun from these lists comes from the debates that they inspire. You can see the 50 best bars here, and keep your eyes peeled for a few more NYC entries that made the cut.
