East Village bar Amor y Amargo has put together a fun series of book signings that will pair two of your favorite things: cocktails and reading about cocktails. Every Tuesday for the next five weeks, the venue will play host to a scribe who will be on hand to talk about their boozy book. While they are chatting and signing their volume, the bar will serve a $10 special cocktail that’s based on what’s inside their book. This week, they’re hosting Brad Thomas Parsons who wrote Bitters, A Spirited History of a Classic Cure-All and on October 23 none other than Dave Wondrich will be in the house. He’ll be pouring an Improved Hollands Gin Cocktail which will feature Pierre Ferrand Dry Curacao. Check out the rest of the author lineup below -the writers will be on site from 6 to 9:30 PM and the bar is located at 443 East Sixth Street.
October 30th: Dushan Zaric, Speakeasy, The Employees Only Guide to Classic Cocktails Reimagined. Zaric co-owns legendary NYC bar Employees Only, and he’ll be featuring negronis made with newly-launched Ford’s Gin.
November 6th: Jim Meehan, The PDT Cocktail Book, The Complete Bartender’s Guide from the Celebrated Speakeasy. Jim, who operates the nearby cocktail den PDT, will be featuring drinks using Banks Rum.
November 13th: Jason Wilson, Boozehound, On the Trail of the Rare, the Obscure, and the Overrated in Spirits. Jason is the spirits column writer for The Washington Post. His featured drink is still in the works, but rumor has it, there may be some Cynar involved.
