We’ve noticed more and more orange wines popping up on vino lists these days – the fruit forward labels are somewhere between a white wine and a rose, while all “orange” wines don’t actually incorporate the fruit, you can really taste the citrus in an offering like Charonge, which actually incorporates orange flavor. The California-based label was born when the founder tossed some orange into his Chardonnay – the zest was tasty and he decided to mass produce the label.
The $12 wine is not as sickly sweet as a wine cooler, but it has enough zest that it will sit well with dessert. While we don’t think that serious snobs will be convinced, curious folks can get some info here.
