This fall, a new bar will debut on West 26th Street. The “fine spirits parlor” will focus on “Whiskey and classic cocktails” as described by its website. Sound familiar? Well, maybe it does because the Flatiron Lounge has been slinging some of the city’s best cocktails a few blocks down in Chelsea for nearly a decade.
This is a tricky one – naming a joint after a neighborhood should be fair game, since no one can really lay claim to a moniker containing “Chelsea” or “Flatiron.” But, the Flatiron Lounge is so iconic in NYC spirits circles that it’s easy to see how people may get confused.
We’ll save final judgment until the new joint opens – should be in a few weeks at 37 West 26th Street.
