Williamsburg bar The Pit Stop should be called The Last Stop – it’s where drunkards gather in the wee hours of the morning to have one too many. And then another one after that. The watering hole has a dart board (pretty standard) and a vending machine that sells scratch off lottery tickets (sadly, there wasn’t a single winner in $10 worth of scratch offs). They have something even more curious – a sign advertising pina coladas for $6 a pop.
That was the only frozen option – there were no daiquiris or margaritas to keep the coconut clad drink company. It seemed like a gamble to order one – we wouldn’t drink a martini in this shithole, so why would we risk a drink that was supposed to have an umbrella. Well, our friends were brave (aka drunk) enough to request one –and on a hot summer night, in a haze of tipsiness, boy did that thing hit the spot. We propose that all dive bars start serving their version of the drink – maybe the pina colada can become the next pickle back.
If you want to take a sip, The Pit Stop is located at 152 Meserole Avenue. Be sure you're drunk when you get there.
