A new brand of boxed wine is trying to make a fashion statement. If you carry this chic vessel around, you’re letting the world know just what a lush you are. Great – because carrying an actual box of wine around is just tacky.
Volere is a new tote that gets rid of the typical box design in favor of a totable “wine-in-purse” packaging. The boozy purses come in pinot grigio, merlot and rose prints – and each are $14.99, about what you would spend for a fake Fendi in the back of a Chinatown marketplace, and those won’t even get you drunk. The downside of these things is that they are clearly labeled, it’s not “purse-like” enough to smuggle into sporting events or other booze-free zones. But, the upside is that they are a purse filled with almost two bottles of wine, so we guess we shouldn’t complain too much.
