Flavored vodkas are tricky, they may taste all well and good, but you never know what mix of chemicals are in them to give them that "genuine" flavor. That's why we're excited about Alchemia, a new line of small-batch infused vodka from Poland that is not flavored with extracts. Sweet (literally). Instead of the typical process, which is akin to something that a mad-scientist would do in his lab, these labels are made by macerating raw ingredients. The labels are distilled from 100% rye grain, and then flavored with ingredients like wild cherry, ginger root and cocoa beans to create the three infusions that are currently available: Ginger, Wild Cherry and Chocolate. After that, the spirit is finished in oak barrels, which add depth and roundness, before being put into the sleek, triangular bottles that you'll find at the bar. Keep a lookout for these guys at your local watering hole, and reach for them over those other labels that contain god-knows-what. Get more info here.
