New beer alert! Goose Island, which is available in many a fine New York bar, is rolling out a new label that’s inspired by Fig Newtons. Yes, the cookie. This Abbey-style brew is a hybrid of Belgian Tripel and Vienna Lager style beer, and it’s definitely one of the most creative things to come out of this Chicago brewery (and that’s saying a lot because their other labels are pretty sweet as well). The suds are fermented with Black Mission figs to bring out the flavors that you might remember as a kid, but we have bad news about this label. It’s only available in the Chicago area, so we have one of two options. 1. have a pint when we’re out there while it’s being served on draft for a limited time. 2. start a letter writing campaign to have the brew start to flow at NYC bars. Why not do both at once? Otherwise, the alternative is dipping those cookies in your Stella – not such a good idea.
