Watch out Fergie – you’re not the only pop star to be getting into the spirits. None other than Enrique Iglesias is gearing up to launch two new rums – Atlantico Reserva and Platino. The labels are distilled in the Dominican Republic and stand out from other varieties in that they use both cane juice and molasses as their base (most other rums use only one or the other). The Platino is an unaged, white rum that should work well in all sorts of cocktails. There are notes of citrus and vanilla in the mix, and a bottle retails for around $19.99. The Reserva is aged between 6 and 15 years – the darker, smokier label has notes of tropical fruits and sounds good as a sipping rum. This variety is slightly more expensive, coming it at around $24.99 a bottle.
Both labels are set to hit shelves on June 1. Which Enrique song do you plan on playing as you take your first sip?
