Alphabet City favorite Sunburnt Cow has run into some problems with the po-po. The joint was shut down by the NYPD last week after the fuzz found drugs being sold on the premises – the haunt was able to open again this weekend for boozy brunch service, but owner Heath St. Clair issued a statement saying that they would close again this week to cooperate with the investigation. Check it out:
“We are working with the authorities to bring about a swift and just resolution to this issue and want to reiterate that we had no prior knowledge of illegal drug activity on our premises. We do not and will not condone, endorse or tolerate such behavior at any of our establishments.”
Now, we’re not one to usually believe boilerplate statements like this, but we’ve talked to Heath before, and he’s on the up and up. Sounds like it’s more a case of shady employees than anything involving management.
