It’s that time of year again – time for a bloggy holiday guide! Check out our missive on the best city cocktails, and check out our fellow bloggers for plenty of other choice holiday info below!
After all, the holidays are upon us, with all of their lovely traditions – shopping, drinking, Christmas trees, drinking, asking Santa for things, drinking (yes, now that you’re older, you can ask Santa for hooch). Well, chances are that you’re going to be running around NYC getting ready for the end of the year. After about five minutes of that, we bet you’ll need a drink. And after the New Year, you'll be ready for some intervention for alcoholism, but why don't you worry about that after the holidays! No need to ruin the par-tay.
The Andaz 5th Avenue (485 Fifth Avenue) is one of our favorite places to grab a holiday libation this year, mostly because it's centrally located (meaning we can wait there for people while they see the tree and deal with the crowds). And, what to drink? Their Velvet Spice Martini is a choice option – it gives the slightest hint of holiday without overwhelming with candy canes or cinnamon. The blend of rum, falernum and bitters is pretty easy to make at home. If you need a last minute cocktail for that party, the recipe is below the jump.
If you’re Downtown (lucky you) and want to get in on the holiday boozing, check out Kastel, located in the Trump Soho (246 Spring Street). This year, they’ll get you hopped up on “spirit” with their Pumpkin Punch. It’s a potent concoction, but still contains all those flavors you find so comforting this time of year. Oh, and if you mix it up at home, it will absolutely help you put up with your family and all their loveable “quirks” that make you want to shoot yourself in the face.
