Downtown stalwart B Bar is in legal trouble and, surprise surprise, it’s NOT for admitting underage drinkers (we have many fond memories of drinking at the spot during the glory days of our bodega bought ID). The spot is being sued by current and former employees for violating labor laws. Ouch.
The workers are seeking to recover wages, overtime that is owed to them, uniform related expenses and other cash money that they claim has been due to them since 2004.
There’s been a slew of other successful restaurant labor lawsuits. Are the B Bar employees jumping on the bandwagon and trying to get a pricy settlement, or were the owners really taking advantage of them? We’ll leave that one up to the judge.
Another thought: can’t all of these lawsuits be solved by a good old fashioned drink off? Hmmm.
