How we’ve enjoyed whittling away our Sunday afternoons at Landmarc’s bar in the Time Warner Center. This spot delivers on all the tipsy Sunday afternoon musts. Good thing we took notes, as a tipsy Sunday afternoon can quickly turn into a drunky Sunday evening:
Clientele – head a few more blocks uptown and everywhere is mobbed with uppity area residents. The bar at Landmarc doesn’t have that problem. On each of our visits, we struck up a conversation with a friendly stranger. We can’t tell if they were so friendly because of the atmosphere, or because of their second giant bloody mary, but does it really matter?
- The oh-so-cute half bottles of wine – Landmarc’s wine list does away with glasses. All of the options are available by the bottle and the half bottle, so you don’t have to be guilty about ordering a little extra. Three half bottles sure doesn’t seem like that much!
- The food is reasonably priced and delicious. Excellent, because you’ll need something to soak up half bottle number four.
Friendly bartenders, hopping music (MGMT makes half bottles of wine more fun) and an expansive space makes this spot our current brunch destination of choice. In fact, we’ve extended brunch. If we get there early enough, we can start our day off with an early lunch, and then finish up around 7pm with a juicy burger for dinner.
We’re trying to think of a new name for this two meal / one stop experience. Lushy lunch?
Landmarc is located on the third floor of the Time Warner Center at Columbus Circle.
