There’s some good news from Albany for a change. The fun police are about to get what’s coming to them. The post has word that the State Liquor Authority is the subject of a scathing report by The State Law Revision Commission. They’re going to recommend major changes, including a bring your own booze license for restaurants. Check it out:
The blistering 43-page report by the State Law Revision Commission recommended an overhaul of the understaffed and scandal-plagued SLA and suggested a sweeping rewrite of the Alcohol and Beverage Control Law.
The commission called for, among other things, a new "bring your own booze" certificate program to allow eateries to open their doors while license applications wend their way through an approval process that averages nine months.
You may remember it’s the SLA that’s in charge of issuing liquor licenses for the city. By “issuing”, we of course mean slowing things down, bankrupting restaurant owners, and being general buzz-kills.
