Gotta love the PBS reality shows. Antiques Roadshow has always been a favorite (what’s lamer: tuning in every week, or being upset because we already saw the episode twice?) Frontier House kicks our city dwelling butt. Now, it's time for a PBS style reality show about one of our favorite subjects: wine.
We checked out The Winemakers at a recent preview event (we were also sure to investigate the freely flowing wine). An Apprentice-esque exercise in all things vino. The six 30-minute episodes follow a group of 12 spirited wine enthusiasts from various walks of life, including law, teaching, sales, retail and marketing—as they compete for the prize of launching their own wine label. The series, which was shot in Paso Robles, Calif., chronicles tense wine-making challenges, as well as the inevitable contestant eliminations.
During the sneak peek, we saw the wine-making contestants frantically push crates, spill wine everywhere, step on grapes, and drink a little bit as well. Should make for an interesting show, especially because you can drink along with it (we always felt strange about having a bottle of Syrah when watching Big Brother, the pairing never quite fit).
We didn’t get to watch a full episode yet, so we don’t know the vino version of Trump's famous line. Maybe “You’re Fired!” will be replaced with “You’re Cut Off!”, “It’s Only Miller Light for You!”, or “You’re Corked!”. We’ll have to tune in and find out.
Winemaking, or vinification, is the production of wine, starting with selection of the grapes or other produce and ending with bottling the finished wine. Although most wine is made from grapes, it may also be made from other fruit or non-toxic plant material. Mead is a wine that is made with honey being the primary ingredient after water.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the Milky way,
They stretch’d in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
