We’ve long been a fan of the river views and pretty people watching offered by the Hotel Gansevoort’s rooftop bar Plunge. The Meatpacking district hot spot launched their new brunch party last weekend. Ever since Merkato 55 unleashed the rivers of champagne into Brunch-time, other haunts have tried to follow-suit. Plunge’s Get Up Get Down party offers a few things that the neighboring Merkato lacks. If it’s a gorgeous summer day, do you really want to be cooped up inside (even if there are sparklers and amply flowing Rose)? The Gansevoort lets you bask in the two great joys of a summer Sunday: drinking excessively and being outdoors.
The hotel plans to offer a three-course $36 menu from 12 – 8 pm on Saturday’s and Sunday. The brunch party happens rain or shine, and will feature DJs and signature cocktails like the Mango Lime Ricky and Champagne Mojito. On Sundays, brunch will segueway into a late night party starting at 9 pm.
Why not make it into an all weekend, brunch party hopping extravaganza. Hudson Terrace and Salon de Ning also play host to rooftop brunches during the warm months. The manager of the rooftop is a very disrespectful, loutish, cad of a fellow who doesn't realize that he has to be nice to people. People being his underlings and those who pay the outlandish costs just to be on the rooftop.
