We stopped by the Bleecker Street Bar the other night and were greeted by a strange sight. A boisterous group of drinkers were gathered around the Big Buck Hunter Safari game, yelling like hopped-up gamblers around a craps table. Could killing virtual wildebeest really be that exciting? Turns out, there is money to be won on this electronic safari. Our favorite video game now allows users across the country to compete for actual cash.
After signing up with a unique ID, users can log in and keep track of their scores. They rack up as many points possible in a given time period, and the folks with the highest scores get the dough. The drunken glory of being the best hunter is no longer enough. In addition to taking home a mounted Big Buck head, a true winner gets to walk away with drink money.
Kudos to the game makers for sneaking legalized gambling into our favorite bars. Competing for twenty bucks with a 19 year old in Cleveland sure beats putting $50 on a game of pool. Out of work? Forget the job hunt. Polish up that neon green shot-gun and get to the hunting post.
You can find out more info about the tournament on the Buck’s website.
The best love for someone is heartful care rather than money
