Forget about a bank run, what you really need to be worried about is a bourbon run. We just got word that Knob Creek (aka the good stuff) might face shortages in the coming months. Since the stuff will be harder to find, we suggest you stock up now. As we all know, good bourbon is essential to any urban survival kit. You wouldn’t want to be caught in a disaster (i.e. a boring Friday night) without a cache.
We asked our friends at Knob what might be behind the shortage. Since the Bourbon is aged in Kentucky for 9 years, it seems that the makers at the turn of the millennium didn’t realize that demand would spike. Our sources at the distillery let us know that they would rather put up with a shortage than make any sacrifices to quality:
We could lower the proof from an honest 100 to something lower, change the age statement from 9 years to 8 years and 3 months or shrink the flask-shaped bottle. If we did that though, it wouldn’t be Knob Creek. It would just be another bourbon.
It’s time to make a mad dash to the liquor store. While you’re there hoarding Knob, you might as well pick up your contingency vodka and “just in case” rum. You never know when disaster could strike. Better to be overly prepared than left in the sober dust when the time comes (the time = cocktails at 5PM).
Love Knob Creek, but the good news is Small Batch has three more bourbons people may try out if they haven't already...Bookers, Basil Hayden's and Bakers. All fabulous.
