Barfly’s not so into Fashion Week. Our expertly tailored burlap sac has really held up over the years. What we are into is all of the drinking that goes on during this annual New York extravaganza. Sites like Guest of a Guest and ChiChi212 do a good job of chronicling all of the haute-drunken revelry. We have to wonder – how do those models manage to drink it up and still stay ridiculously trim? There aren’t many calories in vodka and ice, but after 7 of them, you’d expect it to show at least a little bit.
Our search for fashionable cocktails led us to a drink called The Skinny Mini, created by nutritionist Tanya Zuckerbrot. She should know a thing or two about staying trim, as she recently launched the site Skinny and the City. We figured we’d jump on the fashion week bandwagon and make a few of these at home. You won’t catch us at the tents, but you’re welcome to come over and see Barfly’s own “fashion show”. It involves swathing our alcohol bottles in burlap, and parading them around our apartment. Take that Charlotte Ronson.
We’ve included the recipe for The Skinny Mini below, so you can mix some up and get wasted just like the models. Keep in mind that they have to do a lot of work to maintain that physique. Just because you are “saving calories” with this cocktail doesn’t mean that you can spend them on a McRib when you’re hungover.
