There’s only one word to describe what we are feeling today: tiki. We’re struck by a sudden urge for fruity, potent concoctions served in glasses with pygmy faces. Maybe, if we are feeling extra saucy, we will order one served in a fake coconut.
There is only one locale in the city that can fulfill our Polynesian Dreams: The Rusty Knot. We’re headed there to sip on a Dark and Stormy, a Singapore Sling, and maybe even (we’re not being cheeky) a Rusty Knot. The “manufactured dive bar” décor might not scream Tiki-bar, but that’s why we like it. Can’t we enjoy a drink from a pygmy-man glass without being surrounded by fake torches and people in Hawaiian shirts? Well, that hipster in the corner is wearing one, but he doesn’t count.
The Rusty Knot is located at 425 West (very west) street. In case you were wondering, our Polynesian Dreams do include eating 3 pretzel dogs. The Rusty Knot comes through once again!
