-After a Page-Six piece about NYC socials flaunting the no-smoking in bars rule, the city has started cracking down. Grub Street has the Department of Health confirming that they are conducting more late night smoking raids. The DOH threatened to close the Beatrice Inn, among others. Worried club-owners are trying to decide what to do, as their eye-rolling patrons still want to light up. Our suggestion: give out chew to the hipsters. They will be reluctant at first, but once they see Chloe Sevigny with some dip in her lip, it will become all the rage.
-January is supposed to be a tough month for New York City restaurants, and it’s off to a rocky start. The fabled Rainbow Room is slated to close, due to the unfortunate economic climate. The management explains: “There just aren’t enough tourists in town to blow their money on overpriced tripe.”
