This Week in Drunktown: Beer, Beer, and Herpes

-Keeping with this week’s Philadelphia theme, Barfly learned that the Philadelphia Brewing Company released a new Coffee flavored beer as part of their gourmet Select Ale Series. This smooth and balanced porter (5% alcohol) is, as Matt Nienhuis from the Brewing Co. puts it, “Great for your holiday hangover!” It’s also good for, as we put it, “first thing in the morning!”

- What’s that? The coffee-beer has a few too many calories? You’re in luck - MGD 64, one of the fastest growing new brands in the American beer business, will be available on draft beginning this week. MGD 64, which launched nationally in August, also is available in multiple bottle and can packages. There are only 64 calories per 12 ounce serving, which means you can have the extra three burritos for dinner.

-Careful not to drink too much, though. The New York Health Department released a study that ties binge drinking to “loosened inhibitions” and “greater risk for STD’s”. In response, New York City Drinkers released a study that said “Duh”.
