Still no big news about Laura Garza. The missing girl was last seen over a week ago leaving the Manhattan club Marquee. Barfly has been keeping our finger on the pulse of this case, and it seems that the developments are coming in slowly. Michael Mele, the primary suspect, remains in jail on charges that he violated his probation by drinking on the night of the 3rd. He was the last person known to be with Garza after she left the club that evening.
-There were numerous reports of a bloody machete found in the vicinity of Mele’s apartment, but the police have come forward to say that these are false.
-Mele is being held in solitary confinement at a local jail, and the fuzz are watching him closely for signs of suicidal behavior.
-There are search parties combing through the Westchester woods looking for anything “suspicious”.
-When police started talking to the public about Mele, over ten women came forward with stories of sexual harassment and lewd conduct. He is already a level 1 sex offender, and the authorities are looking into these allegations.
We’ve included Michael’s mug-shot with our post today. Scary, don’t you think, ladies and gentlemen? We’re not saying that you would go home with him. But at 4 AM during a random night at a club, he really doesn’t look like the type of person that may or may not have a machete lying around his apartment.
