-Members from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce ran up a staggering $8,204 tab on drinks at a Washington D.C. bar. The celebration? The chamber’s annual softball tournament. The head of the organization denounced the party as “completely irresponsible” and claimed that next year “there will be a $4,000 limit on expenditures relating to girly sports.”
-Monster Mania! A strange creature washes up on the shores of Montauk, and the blog world goes crazy! Is it a turtle without a shell, a decomposing dog, a hell-demon, or all three? Most importantly for Barfly – does the monster like beer or does he like the hard stuff? We have to be ready to entertain his friends when they show up for the end of humanity!
-A community board in Greenpoint meets to discuss Studio B’s cabaret license. Apparently, this club has been letting people dance without having proper paperwork, and the uppity neighbors are upset. The club’s fate is still undecided – but if history is any guide (i.e. the movie Footloose) – the dancers will dominate over the whiners!

An $8200 bar tab? Yikes...Or as I call it, 'July'.
