Drink of the Week: BeerMenus.com

This week, Barfly realized that we have been doing things the old fashioned way. To keep track of the different brews being poured at our favorite city haunts, we’ve been using the same elaborate system for years. We enter the bar disguised as an elderly Chinaman, snatch a menu, hide it under our kimono (made of the finest materials), and then spirit it away for our catalog.

Little did we know that there is a more efficient way of keeping track of such things. When we painstakingly etched those stolen beer menus onto our papyrus scroll, we were certain that we had the most brilliant beer list in town.

Two local brothers have bested Barfly. They’ve taken to using a fantastical invention – the interweb – to catalog all of the city’s beers. Now rolling out our list of beers is considered “burdensome” – you can just go to BeerMenus.com and do a search by brew or by bar. It is an undeniably superior system – going through the scroll did take a while. By the time we finally found what we wanted, we would be exhausted and inevitably settle for a Schlitz.

But with their site – there will be no more drinking of dreck. They’ve done a tremendous job of gathering up all of the important beer information that Manhattan has to offer. If you’re in the mood for a Belfast Bay Lobster Ale or want to know what the Hop Devil Grill is pouring today – BeerMenus will prove a worthy guide. With help like this, the founders have effectively expanded their family. In a city of drunks searching for the same thing, we’re all brothers.

And, what does family do? Well – we suggest they start by heading to some of the Beer Events that the actual brothers list on the site. We’ll definitely be dropping by a few. Which, you ask? Why – Barfly would never reveal our social maneuvers. Let’s just say if you show up at one and see a lonely, white-bearded Asian sitting in the corner – buy him a pint. Even if it’s not us incognito, he’s likely to offer some interesting prophecies / sell you a Gremlin at a good price.
